One 60-day cruise around Australia is being halted following the tragic passing of an senior female passenger who was abandoned by the ship on a remote island.

The passenger had been trekking on Lizard Island with fellow passengers from the vessel, but parted ways from the group for a pause. The liner sailed away leaving her and went back after some time after the crew discovered the woman was unaccounted for.

An extensive hunt located her body the subsequent day.

She further stated that she wished the investigation would be able to pinpoint what "the operator should have undertaken that might have protected Mother's existence".
